Frequently Asked Questions

Viega ProPress

Q: What does “Lead Free” mean?

A: The Safe Drinking Water Act has been updated to define "Lead Free" as materials containing not more than 0.2 percent lead when used with respect to solder and flux and not more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes and pipe fittings, and fixtures, providing a specified definition and formula for determining "weighted average."

Q: What is NSF 61 Annex G (NSF 61-G)?

A: NSF 61 Annex G is an evaluation method for products that need to meet a 0.25% weighted average lead content standard. Viega PureFlow

Q. What materials are used to produce Viega PureFlow fittings?

Viega PureFlow Brass fittings are constructed of EcoBrass UNS C69300 and C87850.

Q. Why did Viega choose the above materials over other alternatives?

A. The same Viega PureFlow warranty of 10 years against defects in material and workmanship applies also for the Zero Lead fittings. Please refer to the Viega PureFlow Warranty for more detail.
